Professional Summary

Jordan Kokot is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs who specializes in the ethics of technology, aesthetics & the philosophy of art, phenomenology, and social & political philosophy.  His current research focuses on the ethical, political, and phenomenological issues generated by the meteoric rise of modern digital and biomedical technologies, specifically how VR and XR manipulate normative affordance structures and how cyborg technologies (e.g., brain-computer interface like Neuralink) play into and deepen ableist political aesthetics of cure. He is also a co-curator of the multimedia art and literature journal, field|guide (book / IG)

Jordan grew up in Michigan and received his MA and PhD in Philosophy at Boston University.  Prior to coming to Colorado Springs, Jordan was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Brandeis University and taught classes at Harvard, Tufts, and BU.  He is an avid hiker, rock climber, and swimmer, and once hitchhiked across Ireland in under 48 hours on less than 100 euros.
